We came to Washington DC during the cherry blossom festival, and all of the trees were in bloom. Maybe you already knew this, but I learned that the cherry trees were a gift from the Japanese in 1912. They gave us 3,000 cherry trees, including twelve different types. The names are all really complicated, like the Mikurumagayeshi(yes I copied and pasted that). For more history on the cherry blossoms and the festival go here.

Hannah, I love the pictures of the cherry blossoms. I was once lucky enough to go to the cherry blossom festival and I thought it was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. The trees seemed like clouds of blossoms, a bit magical.
